"Snerge" Etymology
Jack Vance used the word "snerge" (v., means "steal") in his novel Wyst. I think it might be a contraction and verbification of "synergy." (Used in the business world, "synergy" means "2+2=5.")
UPDATE!
AND, and, "snergery" = "theft," which, "snergery" sounds even more like "synergy." QED.

I'm not really convinced by the etymology -- but here's an interview with Mickey Rourke, if you wanna read it. Yeah, that Mickey Rourke. No, he ain't dead. Ain't in jail, either.

Yeah, 3H, that's what we're doing, most of the time. Fucking around, pretending we do research. Actually, there's not much fucking in academia, but we do waste considerable amounts of time. Why do you think they pay us so little?
As to Mickey, it seems that his face is making Johnny Handsome's trip iin reverse. Couldn't find a pic of his pre-op disfigured face in that movie, but maybe they show it in the trailer. This way, you know what his end-point will be, ten years from now or so. And to think that this guy used to lay Carre Otis.
Hm! Just got back in town and I'm gonna just come out and ask you what is the Mickey Rourke connection?
Wo! That is a screwdriver and a half! Dude!
To me, "snergery" sounds very much like "strategery," the Decider's preferred notion when he makes foreign policy. And it's not hard to connect what he and his buddies have been doing with theft. Ergo. There's your etymology. It's a dislexic deformation of a dislexic's mispronounciation. Strategy, strategery, snergery, snerge.
Ohhhh, snurgery, like cosmetic snurgery? It sounds right, but how does it fit with stealing?
Strategery seems like a reach too!
